Works well, even allows some use during a power outage
I originally purchased 2 of these to help protect some of my more expensive equipment from surges (1 each in my home office & front room) after my electric company gave me the proverbial finger when I filed a claim on a $350 video surveillance system that had the hard drive controller get fried after a surge that happened when they were repeatedly turning the power on & off; I later bought a 3rd one & am expecting I may purchase a 4th in the future. So far, I’ve seen very little issue with them, even getting some usage on the devices that are plugged into them during a power outage (although I usually unplug those devices from them to preserve the battery life in case the power is out for 3 or more days again, intending on using that battery life to charge my phone if necessary). I’m impressed with their performance so far & really have nothing to say negative about them for the time being. The only thing I can really say is to watch what outlets you plug your devices into if you want battery backup on them; 2 of the outlets on the device do NOT provide battery backup, only surge protection.UPDATE: I have purchased 6 of these since July 09, 2021, I had my first one conk out tonight (early morning) on December 17, 2023, resulting in a shrill, never-ending beep & not powering anything. This was one of the first ones I purchased, which has had heavy use on it from a gaming computer that is almost never turned off. It worked well while I was using it, although I will point out it don’t last long when the power is out with the computer using power off of it (normally the PC is turned off in a power outage). I moved one of the newer ones from my bedroom into the office to replace the one that went out for my computer & have ordered another to replace it (this being my seventh one).UPDATE: The earliest I have had one of these conk out was a little over 6 months (another one going out tonight on 2/2/2024), so life of this device varies; I think I might start getting the extended warranty when I purchase a new one (I probably could have gotten a free replacement on this last one to go out)…

    Dependable
It functions reliably. We live in FL and with storms and such, power glitches and short outages happen. I have a 60″ TV, STB, Router and chargers connected to this APC 600VA/300W UPS and it keeps things up and running. (When power fails CATV is still on so it keeps cable and internet working).

Must have in severe weather areas
After having two routers that fried themselves during power failure events, I decided it was time to protect my new router and it’s modem with an uninterruptable power supply. The APC 550 unit is fairly large and heavy, but it does its job well. With a power capacity of 330 watts, I placed the modem and router on two of the four backup outlets. They account for 25 wants of usage, meaning I get a little over 2 hours of backup run time for those devices. In one of the surge-only outlets, I plugged in my large screen TV which draws 215 watts. This gives the unit some spare capacity so I don’t need to worry about overload. One important thing to note is that while the outlets are generously spaced, my router and modem both have longitudinal power bricks which means only those two devices have room to fit on the backup power outlets. To set up the router you need to at least temporarily connect the APC unit via the supplied USB A cable to a desktop or laptop computer running Windows or Linux. Then you download software from the APC website which allows you to tell the APC how it should respond during power outages. (e.g. keep devices running until the battery is depleted, or shut devices down after a set period of time or battery usage) and allows disabling of the audible alert. The alert is a loud beep and very annoying. The software also allows you to check on the battery health. Once the setup is done, the APC no longer requires a computer connection. As other reviewers noted, the attached computer must be running either Windows or Linux. The software is not compatible with MAC or Android. To me there are two major benefits to having a backup power supply to keep your home internet access up and running in a power failure. First, you protect your devices from being fried from a power surge when the power comes back on or it flickers on and off multiple times during a storm. Second, and this is critical if you live on an area subject to severe weather, it allows you to monitor weather radar and alerts on your laptop or tablet device while the power is out. If you’re under a tornado warning, that’s when you really need continuous internet access to watch the storm. APC units are made by Euopean Schneider Electric and manufactured in The Philippines and enjoy the highest ratings on Amazon. Almost all the other ups units available are made in China and seem to have rather large percentage of one-star ratings.

Llegó a tiempo, perfectamente empacado y protegido.La batería desconectada lo que garantiza su estado de conservación.Batería original de la misma marca.Aún no lo pongo a trabajar, pero eso no lo pongo es duda…

I use this device to provide power conditioning and uninterruptible power to my TV and related devices. It will allow me to power down these attached electronics in a controlled and timely manner if power is lost in the house. I get peace of mind knowing my investment in home entertainment is protected from “hard” shutdowns that are not good for senstive electronics.I have 4 APC UPC devices protecting computers, external hard drives and health related equipment in my home. I have used APC products for 10 + years and trust them to protect all my stuff.GordK

The UPS is great, been using it for over a week and throughout power outages and its been nothing but good. Its not the most powerful or not the most in battery life but its certainly enough for the average joe with their router. Its even good for a small amount of mobile power despite not being made for it, i wouldn’t suggest it as you can risj damage to your unit but as for me i am careful so i am fine (i am not responsible for any and all damages made to your unit(s). Any and all careless acts carried out by you is yours and your fault only.) Ease of use is great, just connect the battery, plug it in and hit the power button. Turns right on and starts working immediately, some things to note. In the event of a long term outage, i would recommend checking in on it every now and then as the default alarm doesn’t sound untie the battery is quite low. I would suggest either changing it or just checking in on it after a while. Other than that its a great little UPS and i would recommend it to others. One thing id like to see added is the ability for the ups to change the power button color depending on the SOC (state of charge) would be great to see that instead of a blinking green button till it starts beeping at you.
