An SSD that saved my Gaming Life
After getting a more recent upgrade to my laptop (and by that I mean getting a new one completely), I was in need of a hard drive to hold the video games I owned. The new laptop I got, I chose to sacrifice space for performance. I don’t necessarily play a lot of Triple A games or anything, but I play enough games that do require a lot of space and some rather impressive graphics either way. Previously I was using a rather updated and fancy external hard drive to run them all from. While these games did run fine from the external hard drive, they were slow, clanky, and did have loading and connection issues. Nothing game breaking per say, but definitely extremely frustrating to wait on a loading screen for 10 minutes because the game has to load from a hard drive instead of a a SSD. The external hard drive I used was extremely new, and touted one of the best options for external hard drives that you could buy for gaming. But it wasn’t making me happy. After experiencing one of the games I had the most issue with on my actual SSD after making the transfer for convenience sake, it was time for me to find a better hard drive–or a portable SSD. When I found this one, I’d done a lot of research, and I settled with this one simply because I wanted to be extra. My new laptop doesn’t have RGB lighting, and so, why not be extra and get an external SSD that does?Originally the truth was I wanted it only because I was growing frustrated by the lengthy loading screens and the issues with downloads. I was being extra. It wasn’t necessary for me to have this. It was something of just… convenience out of annoyance. That was what I thought anyway. The truth ended up being so much different. I expected the external SSD to not function nearly as fast or accurate as the actual SSD in my laptop, but I was so pleasantly surprised. All my games ran smoothly, so smoothly that I literally sat shocked at how previously a loading screen that stayed for 10 minutes, I couldn’t even check the alert on my phone with the new transfer. I’d loaded so quickly, that a single notification on my phone I couldn’t properly look at because I was already loaded into the game and having no issues.I thought surely there would be speed issues. That i’d have at least some clunky gameplay or small issues. I had none of them. The SSD did so much more than I was expecting. What felt like originally something I didn’t need, I suddenly couldn’t live without. What I thought would just be nice to have for a faster loading screen, instead became essential. Add in the fact I have a rainbow all the time now on my laptop while playing games that before were struggling a bit due to the external HDD I had? I felt my gaming life improve ten fold. The hard drive is fast, sleek, comes with it’s own stand, has multiple USB options for transfers. I had no issue with transferring data between it and my laptop (I will say I do have a more updated USB connection so I’m able to get full speeds but even so). It was absolutely up to date, quick, had no glitches, nothing. The external SSD took what I’d been struggling with in non Triple AAA games, and made it look like they never existed. If you think that you might only want this to update something or that it might only make a small difference, I can tell you now, it will make a world of difference. This external SSD has made my gaming life so much easier, smoother, and perfect in ways I cannot describe. If you’re debating it? Stop. It’s totally worth it point blank.

Works great on Xbox series S or X/ format drive first before using
Make sure you format the drive to NTFS on your PC or Mac first before plugging into your console. It will not work if you donât format it. After formatting once you plug it into your Xbox it will detect it. Got good deal on this drive for $72.00. Quick transfer speeds between this and my internal drive. Took less than 4 minutes to transfer 58gb game back and forth. Just know itâs only for storing your Xbox Series S/X games. Canât play them off the drive. Itâs only for backwards compatible games that you can play off the SSD. I was running out of storage and didnât want to spend almost $200 for the overpriced expansion card. Will be downloading old Xbox games on it. Itâs a really nice looking SSD and comes with nice portable carrying case.

Itâs a nice external storage with pretty good performance wasnât hard to use or hook up but it didnât come with the rgb which isnât too big of an issue but it does do its job as an external storage for games and what not

Plug and play, easy
The only available spot for a new SSD is under my CPU cooler and I didnât want the hassle to take it off and then connect everything again, so I bought this 2TB external SSD. I just plugged it in and it works out of the box, no installing anything or tinkering with settings. Straight up plugged it in, Lexar D drive showed up and I went straight to install a 100gb game to test it and I installed it from steam right to the drive and it worked flawlessly. I just plugged this thing in the USB C in the back of my tower and itâs hanging there no problem. All I had to do.

Died after a year and a half
Drive died after a year and a half. Was using it as a backup drive that only got occasional use. Lights worked, but drive eventually was completely dead – won’t load, won’t show as a device, doesn’t ‘warm up’.When it worked it was also slow for an NVMe drive and USBC3.2. Didn’t come close to potential speed advertised.

Fast and runs cool
I’ve got a lot of SD external drives that run far too hot for my liking (Samsung and Sandisk). For this new drive (I needed a 4TB model) bought this model over other options because it advertised design that keeps the drive cool. And it works as advertised! This drive runs *much* cooler than anything else I’ve used in the product class, and it is very fast. Highly recommended!

can’t disable RGB lights
Every RGB device I’ve ever bought before has had a way to disable the lights, or at least make them solid color. I bought this one despite disliking the lights because I thought thered be a way to disable them, and because it comes with a stand and the non RGB version does not, which I thought would protect the drive and it does. But the lights cannot be changed at all so I’ve had to hide the drive where it can’t be seen. Don’t buy if you’re sensitive to lights. Works exactly as advertised

1Tb – The outside case feels like metal. Seems to help with heat dissipation. The supplied cable is high speed and works well. I bought two more of these. Recommended.
